I 1997 slo IBMs superdatamaskin Deep Blue verdens beste sjakkspiller, Garry Kasparov. Nå, 14 år senere, har en ny superdatamaskin (også fra IBM) endelig prøvd seg på noe lignende i Jeopardy. Mandag til onsdag denne uken (14-16 feb) har Watson, som datamaskinen heter, kjempet mot to av verdens beste Jeopardy-spillere. Ken Jennings er den som har vunnet flest ganger på rad i Jeopardy (74 ganger), mens Brad Rutter er den som har vunnet mest penger. Hvordan det gikk, ser du i videoene under. Watson får oppgaven som en tekst-fil samtidig som deltagerne får se den på skjermen og har ikke lov til å bruke Internett.
In 1997, IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer beat the world’s best chess player, Garry Kasparov. Now, 14 years later, a new supercomputer (also from IBM) finally tried something similar in Jeopardy. Monday to Wednesday this week (14-16 Feb) Watson, as the computer is called, competed against two of the world’s best Jeopardy players. Ken Jennings is the one who has won the most times in a row in Jeopardy (74 times), while Brad Rutter is the one who has won the most money. You can see how it went in the videos below. Watson receives the task as a text file at the same time as the human contestants get to see it on the screen and Watson’s not allowed to use the Internet.
